Position Summary:
We are excited to announce the next phase in Therapy Insights Practice’s growth, as we prepare to introduce a diverse range of group therapy offerings in our new Hell’s Kitchen office suite.

These groups, focusing on critical topics like DBT skills, trauma processing, inclusivity and diversity, and LGBTQ+ issues, represent our commitment to expanding not just the revenue stream but also the therapeutic options we provide our clients. By conducting group work, we create more space for connection, shared experiences, and deeper healing for our clients.

We believe that this will not only elevate our practice but also offer clinicians new opportunities for personal and professional growth. We encourage you to share any ideas you may have for specific group topics or populations you’d like to work with. We are open to exploring different age groups, interventions, and specializations.

We are seeking an experienced Group Director to lead our Group Therapy program and ensure the highest standards of clinical care within our practice. This role is pivotal in developing Group modalities and team collaboration, clinical development, and maintaining ethical and legal compliance as we expand our group psychotherapy practice.

Key Responsibilities and Role Expectations:

Group Topics & Details: 

1. Coping Skills for Anxiety and Depression
  • Focus: Teach a variety of skills from DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for managing symptoms.
  • Intervention: Mindfulness techniques, distress tolerance, emotional regulation.
  • Example Activities: Guided meditation, identifying unhelpful thinking patterns.
2. Substance Use with Harm Reduction
  • Focus: Explore harm reduction techniques, including managing urges and addressing relapse.
  • Intervention: Motivational interviewing, urge surfing, relapse prevention.
  • Example Activities: Reflective journaling, role-playing high-risk scenarios.
3. Gay Men Support Group
  • Focus: Processing body image issues and internalized stigma.
  • Intervention: Cognitive reframing, self-compassion techniques, narrative therapy.
  • Example Activities: Peer discussions, body image reflection exercises.
  • Experience working with gay men issues. 
4. DBT Skills Group
  • Focus: Teach core DBT modules like distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Intervention: Structured DBT skills, with practice homework. 
  • Example Activities: Skill sheets, group discussion on applying skills to daily life.
  • Experience: DBT-trained clinician. 
5. Processing Trauma through Grounding and Emotional Regulation
  • Focus: Work through past trauma using emotional regulation and grounding techniques.
  • Intervention: Grounding exercises, visualization, somatic processing.
  • Example Activities: Trauma narratives, sensory grounding.
  • Experience: Trauma-focused clinician.
6. Exploring ENM, Kink, and Polyamory
  • Focus: Educate and explore the dynamics of non-traditional relationships.
  • Intervention: Boundaries setting, communication skills, consent-based practice.
  • Example Activities: Group discussion on relationship agreements, communication role-plays.
  • Experience: Clinician experienced in LGBTQ+ relationships and alternative relationship models.
7. Inclusivity and Diversity: Trans and Gender Identity Exploration
  • Focus: Safe space for exploring gender identity and navigating transitions.
  • Intervention: Psychoeducation on gender diversity, affirming practices.
  • Example Activities: Group discussion on personal experiences, affirming exercises.
  • Experience: Clinicians focusing on gender and sexual identity.
8. Solution-Focused Skills for Managing Life Transitions
  • Focus: Support for managing major life transitions, like career changes or relationship shifts.
  • Intervention: Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), action-oriented strategies.
  • Example Activities: Miracle question, scaling questions, future goal setting.
  • Experience: SFBT-trained clinicians. 
Qualifications:
  • Active New York Clinical license.
  • 5-10 years leading Group Therapy sessions.
  • Extensive knowledge of CPT and DSM-5 diagnosis codes.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Experience with TherapyiQ, SimplePractice, or similar EHR systems is preferred.
  • Commitment to supporting the trauma and LGBTQ+ community.
  • Advanced skills in a variety of therapeutic modalities.
  • Program and curriculum development (developing an internship program, Hybrid model care, Group development).

Compensation:
Virtual vs. In-Person Group Examples

1. Virtual Facilitation: 
  • Duration: 45-60 minutes.
  • 8-10 clients. 
  • Platform: HIPAA-compliant video conferencing (SimplePractice).
  • Structure: A 5-minute check-in, 45 minutes of group processing and skill-building, and 10 minutes of reflection and wrap-up.
  • Rate: $55 per session. Aetna insurance accepted. 
2. In-Person Facilitation: 
  • Duration: 45-60 minutes.
  • 8-10 clients.
  • Location: Office number 1 in Hell’s Kitchen Office. 
  • Structure: Same as virtual but with more interactive elements such as role-playing or grounding exercises that require space.
  • Rate: $55 per session. Aetna insurance accepted.
